I was definitely nervous and had lots of self doubt.. I am sure a lot of women are unsure about what it would feel like to be a mom. I always thought I will bring a child into my life when I am ready.. the reality is there is no such thing as being ready enough.. the only way to enjoy motherhood is to give in when it happens and allow yourself to feel whatever you feel.. we live in a society where every thing we do is fully planned.. but life is what happens while you are planning.. Growing social media norms puts so much pressure on people to meet a certain bar of how picture perfect motherhood should be.. But in reality it’s a trial and error thing.. I think we should take it easy on ourselves and take one day at a time.. I remember all those times I felt my baby move around in my belly.. it felt amazing that I have a little being growing within me.. But it isn’t until I gave birth it became real.. It’s been just a month since I have had the baby but when I look at him I find it hard to believe that he came out of me.. His little sounds he makes for when he is hungry and I find myself so concern making sure all his needs are met.. when I have to pump every 3 hours to feed him.. One look at your baby’s face and you forget about your sleep deprivation.. It’s the most wonderful feeling in the world.”

When I think of this question and trying to express what motherhood means to me.. a storm of thoughts come rushing to my mind.. how do you describe the word that literally changes your whole world in few lines. It’s a gush of feelings that embrace you that you never thought you had.. it melts you and shapes you in to the ultimate being that you were meant to be. For me motherhood is a journey of acceptance and self discovery.. I have always been an entrepreneur and continuously found myself looking for new goals. Though it has been only a month since I gave birth.. I find myself being the most content I have ever been.. it’s like everything that I was chasing so far became unimportant over night.. You go through 9 long months of making a human being.. and in the process you find out so many empowering things about you that you never knew you had.. it helps you discover the heights of sacrifice, endurance and joy all at the same time.. it does not stop at giving birth. It’s the beginning of the journey of a life time.. It’s a miracle of what our bodies and minds are capable of.. when your milk starts flowing when you hear your baby cry.. in the world of science.. when you experience something so magical.. It leaves you in awe..” Sonia, Expectant Mother

“Motherhood is a time to celebrate and a time to cherish every single minute, whether it’s your first child or your 5th child, every pregnancy is a true joy and such a miracle. Sonia is expecting her first baby, a boy, and she was so over the moon to capture this special and exciting time in her life. With Spring blooms popping up everywhere, we decided to capture her beautiful maternity session at Fort Tyron Park in New York. The gardens were filled with fresh spring flowers that reminded me so much of a lovely little English Garden. She was not only so happy to be capturing this special and exciting time in her life, but she was so excited about what lies ahead as well. She was such a stunning mom-to-be and I can’t wait to meet her little one and see her again as a new mother. I personally have always wanted to be a mother and so photographing motherhood has always been so fun and fulfilling for me. It wasn’t until the past few years where I really started to love capturing motherhood and maternity even more, and maybe because my husband and I were on our own journey to become parents. There is nothing quite like your first pregnancy. There are so many emotions and everything is so new, but it’s also a beautiful little miracle. To be able to grow and nurture a baby for that long is just incredible. In my opinion, it’s worth a thousand words, it’s completely priceless to capture.” CJ, Photographer
