“We are so grateful our journey to parenthood began much sooner than we expected. Andrew and I had been married for two years and we knew that having a baby was on our radar for the near future. We spent much of the last year enjoying our marriage, traveling to places we’d always wanted to go, and finally deciding in late summer to start considering having a family of our own. We (what feels like instantly) got pregnant as soon as we had decided we were ready to be parents if given the opportunity. My sister was getting married and I came down with a terrible cold the week of her wedding. I suspected I was sick from the exhaustion and preparation of wedding celebrations. The morning after her wedding, I woke up early and realized something else was off. I took a pregnancy test and saw two beautiful pink lines. My husband and I embraced, cried and truly couldn’t believe that we had gotten pregnant so quickly.
The pregnancy was rough for the first 23 weeks. It was hard to feel like myself or to feel truly excited for the baby when my days were spent in bed with severe nausea and morning (all day) sickness. Fortunately, the last 8 weeks have been packed with energy, emotions and excitement as the bond with our son grows from all of his movements inside. I can honestly say I never thought it was possible to love my husband more than I did on our wedding day, but this pregnancy has made our marriage stronger and better than I could ever have imagined. There is something truly incredible about having your best friend beside you in this experience to support you and love you when nothing in your life or body seems normal. I’ve watched him transform from a husband into a father, and it has been the most rewarding journey as we navigate parenthood together. Our bond with our growing son continues to strengthen with every movement and hiccup and we are counting down the days until he will be in our arms!” Melissa, Mother
