“Carrie & Matt are expecting their first child, a baby girl to be named, Crosby Lou. Crosby means “by the cross” and Lou (after her maternal great grandmother) means “angel warrior”. We wanted to capture this special time in their lives with meaningful portraits showcasing the love between mother and father as they await a precious gift from God. We also wanted to highlight the Mississippi landscape and season so Mom and Dad could remember every little detail and emotion they felt before they held their baby girl for the first time. They will be able to share these photos with her one day and tell her about the anticipation, peace, all the sights, smells and sounds, and pure joy they experienced while they waited for her arrival.” Amelia, Photographer
“I wanted to celebrate my pregnancy with a professional maternity session, so I could have a special memento of this most wonderful time in my life. I knew I wanted to capture the beauty of my belly as well as incorporate my husband to recognize how our lives and marriage was changing for the better. My maternity session took place during a hot and humid late afternoon summer day in Mississippi. I was hot; my husband was sweating, and Amelia was hard at work. Though the southern summer weather can wreak havoc on hair and makeup, Amelia did an outstanding job capturing our playful nature and the beauty of those moments. When I look at my pictures, I see the entire 9 months of my pregnancy, the experiences we shared, and the excitement we had to meet our baby girl rolled into one amazing afternoon. Thank you, Amelia!! Though I enjoy scrolling through my own personal collection of weekly belly selfies in my poorly lit bathroom, this session really grasped how I felt being pregnant and documented it perfectly. I felt beautiful and radiant, and these images reflect how much I loved being pregnant and embraced the changes happening to my body as well as how the experience of preparing for parenthood brought my husband and me closer together. Amelia captured those perfect moments of true happiness, laughter, and love. Our daughter will absolutely know the love and excitement her parents have for one another and for her. These are memories I will cherish forever!
I always wanted to be a mother; it was something I idealized in my adult life. Once my husband and I found out we were pregnant, I was very excited for what was to come, but I was also scared to death. Am I going to be a good mom? Am I going to know what to do? Will it be love at first sight like all my friends say? And then we found out we were having a girl! Oh goodness! What am I going to do with a little girl? Then, the closer we got to delivery, the answers became clearer and clearer. Yes! We will be good parents to a precious little girl, and we will love and care for her better than we thought was possible. We’ve got this! Becoming a mother has been an eye opening experience. Motherhood has given me a newfound appreciation for my own mother. I now understand the unconditional love she has for me. It is absolute, and it is pure. There is nothing else in this world like the love a mother has for her children. I’ve always heard the phrase, “You’ll understand when you have kids.” No truer words have been spoken. I am blessed to have a daughter and I am blessed to be her mother.” Carrie, Expectant Mother
