Being Intentional | Photography by Evelyn Barkey

February 14, 2017

“At times, pregnancy can be slightly overwhelming, with endless preparations to be completed and decisions to be made. Personally, one of these decisions was whether or not we would plan a newborn session. Though I completely value photographs and try to be intentional about capturing these fleeting stages of life, the thought of having ‘everything together’ with a brand new baby left me flustered.  As my due date drew closer, I reached out to my sister-in-law, Evelyn, asking if she would be willing to capture a relaxed session in our home. Looking back, I am so grateful for taking this simple step. These images have become some of our most treasured possessions, perfectly documenting the start of such a sweet season as a family of three” Katie, Mother

“This newborn sessions was particularly special to me because these three incredible people are actually my family. I was thrilled to be able to capture these images of the arrival of my sweet nephew, Jude. Katie and Jake are such wonderful and natural parents, they married young just over three years ago and have always known what they wanted. To me, this is so refreshing and admirable in a world focused on putting off marriage and adulthood. It brings me so much joy watching the happiness in their hearts for each other and their little dude, Jude.” Evelyn, Photographer
