“Everyone warned me while I was pregnant that despite my best efforts, there was no way I could really prepare myself for all the changes a baby would bring. They were right. I couldn’t prepare myself for how my heart swelled the first time I heard my sons first cry. Or how overwhelmed and blessed I felt when I finally got to hold this perfect little being that I carried for the last 9 months. These first few weeks getting to know our sweet boy has been some of the most challenging, sleep deprived and happiest days I’ve ever experienced. I didn’t expect to feel my heart grow a bit more everyday, not just for my son, but also my husband, yet somehow it does. Alison and I discussed our excitement of motherhood and how important it is to have those first moments documented. Turns out our boys were born just five days apart! As a new mom of a 2 month old boy named Luke, it truly has been the most important job I’ve ever had to live out. I love what motherhood has been teaching me about myself, my marriage, and my faith. It stretches me everyday to love deeply and give sacrificially. It teaches me patience, to slow down and focus on Luke even if my task list never seems to be finished.
