“The Grimm family is one of my favorite families to document. So when Heather contacted me to photograph their last moments in their first family home I was absolutely honored to do so. Heather and her husband Matt have such a way of loving the smallest things in life. And I knew they simply loved every detail of their home, so it would be such a bittersweet session. They completely gutted their New Orleans bungalow and did most of the renovation themselves. This home was also where they welcomed home their first son Pryor. They wanted to remember the little things while they said farewell to their first home, moments filled with food, cuddles, music, and a lot of laughter.
The thing I find most fulfilling about photographing motherhood, is when moms look back on their images. Life goes by so quickly, and even photo day can be a little chaotic, but when they see the images, they can really reflect on those slow intimate moments. I always strive to show beauty in the most mundane of our everyday life. It is so satisfying as a photographer to gift mothers a photo that allows them to pause and reflect on those little fleeting moments.” Tah Jah, Photographer
