“Catherine and I we have known each other for about three years now. I met her at a photographers meeting when I came first her to New Zealand a few years ago. It was great to see her being pregnant and then seeing her become a mum and having their own little family.
Last year we were spending some time out at her family home near Waihi beach. It’s a stunning place with barely no reception and no power and that makes it a perfect place to unwind. You are surrounded by this lovely nature, hearing the waves from the sea and watching the birds.
On the second day we had this stunning sunrise when we were having breakfast in the beach house. So wet put on some cute dresses and jumped out to the sea to watch this beautiful sunrise with all it’s pastel colors. I was happy to have my camera with me so that we could take some magical pictures early in the morning on the white sandy beach and by the huge pohutukawa trees. The little one was happy to walk at the beach and show us what she was finding. That spontaneous photoshoot was just the best and I was so happy to capture some candid motherhood pictures of my friend and her cute daughter and her sweet baby bump.
Just after putting my camera into the house we were sitting on the terrace and watching the sea when we were spotting some dolphins jumping out of the sea and greeting us. My heart was full and I couldn’t have been happier to have moments like these where I’m surrounded by friendships and nature.
There is so much love in motherhood photography. It is the closest connection you can have in your life with being a mother. I’m so happy to capture all these beautiful mums. The way they look at their kids, they are holding their hands and spend the time with their little ones. Seeing an expecting mum is always touching and it is so fascinating what a woman’s body is able to do. Growing a baby in our body is so magical and it is so important to enjoy all the small and big wonders.” Micheala, Photographer
