“My maternity session was everything to me and an experience I won’t forget. It was relaxed, fun but mostly special. I originally wanted to travel to the mountains for the shoot but then decided that home, on my parents land, would be even more perfect. It’s where I grew up, played outside and now where I have my small farm and raise my alpacas. The land means so much to me and is apart of me as well as my family. I hope that it will mean just as much to my son one day and that he will create as many memories as I have. This is my first pregnancy and it was important to document everything. My maternity session being a must! I wanted to cherish and soak up every part of being pregnant, the good and the uncomfortable! Being in such a setting that I’m so comfortable in, with the love of my life, while carrying the other love of my life, was nothing short of perfect. The animals behaved, there was beauty in the winter weeds, and wrapping up the shoot we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect sunset.
Motherhood to me is becoming completely selfless without having to try. When I look at my newborn son, I know that there is nothing I wouldn’t do for him. Decision making is no longer about if it benefits me, but whether or not it benefits my child. However, motherhood is much more than selflessness. I don’t believe it can be described in one word, but with many words alongside experience. It wasn’t until I was pregnant, which I would call the beginning of motherhood, that I knew I could love someone so much. Motherhood is by far the most life fulfilling, rewarding and God given gift on earth. One thing about motherhood that can resonate with readers is that we as mothers are not alone. We all share similar experiences or somehow can relate to each other. It’s comforting and powerful knowing we aren’t doing this crazy thing called motherhood alone. After all mothers themselves are women trying to do what’s best for their children everyday. We are constantly putting others first thinking of everyone’s needs but our own. I can imagine this is a shared feeling that women who are quietly and patiently waiting to become a mother have as well.” Emmy, Expectant Mother
