“I’m a mother myself, so I know what goes into raising children. I know that it isn’t a glamorous job and that every moment won’t be picture perfect. I know that every day brings new challenges and that it’s easy for moms to doubt themselves and feel guilty because they want their children to have the very best. When I photograph mothers, I’m not setting my sights on photographing perfect moments or fabricating them. I watch carefully and I pursue the love. I love documenting the look on her face when she’s snuggling her little ones, or the laughter that breaks free from her chest when nothing is going as planned. I love photographing her hands and her gentle touch. I love photographing her heart. Not every day will be perfect and not every decision will be easy or right, but her heart is abundant in love for her children and that deserves to be captured, shared and remembered. We often don’t give ourselves enough credit as mothers, and if I can help one mother see how amazing she is while simultaneously recording memories that her children with treasure, that’s a purpose I am proud to serve.
Getting to know Allison and Chris has been a lot of fun. I’ve photographed two of their 3 daughter’s newborn sessions, and it’s really been a sweet journey to watch them grow as parents and as a family. Allison has a fantastic sense of humor (which we all know is crucial when you’re raising tiny humans) and a strong love for her little ones. She’s incredibly trusting and that allows me to really capture them as they are in their element and that in turns allows me to photograph intimate moments and feelings in their portraits.” Grace, Photographer
