“As soon as I saw Greer Gattuso’s portfolio, I was captivated by her work and her ability to document love stories on film. Greer and I became acquainted through our work in the wedding industry. During a coffee date in New Orleans, shortly before I became pregnant, we started talking about how her parents chose her name. The story of choosing something so precious as a child’s name resonated with me and was definitely part of the journey that lead to our maternity shoot in my hometown.
This session was about mine and Chris’ dream of raising children in our hometown, where there is a rich family history. Chris and I chose The Bradford House as the location for the shoot, because it was my great-grandmother’s childhood home and would be our baby’s namesake. Our stay at there was like stepping back in time—it was an emotional, but peaceful place to spend time as a couple while we anticipated the arrival of our baby, Bradford Alexander. We were so thankful Greer was able to capture this for us.
One of the most memorable aspects of this shoot was the pampering. My makeup was a gift from a friend who I very much admire as an artist and mother. Mallory has this incredible talent of making people not only look, but feel beautiful. She creates a safe space in her makeup chair. I remember confessing that I was scared, perhaps of the unknown aspects of my future or maybe just of having photos taken during a vulnerable time at my heaviest weight, but looking in the mirror to see the dewy look she created, I felt completely at ease. Jacqueline Reynolds incorporated my favorite springs bloom into an elegant updo and I have never felt more beautiful. The flower’s fragrance will always bring me back to memories of that time…
“The phrase “it takes a village” felt like an idiom until I became pregnant. My journey to motherhood is easily the most humbling of my life — I literally felt carried through pregnancy by people around me, as I questioned my strength in the physical, emotional, and spiritual sense. Pregnancy was a season where I cherished relationships in a new way, where I experienced the passing of time like I never had before, and where the most meaningful gifts were the time and talents of friends and family.
Each time a woman in my life shared their experience with motherhood, my imagination would run wild trying to create an image of life with our baby — absolutely nothing could have really prepared me for what it would feel like to meet our son for the first time.” Christine, Expectant Mother
“I have known Christine for a couple of years now. She is a wonderful florist out of Oceans Springs, Ms. and we collaborated on a wedding a few years back. She was so pleasant to work with and we have remained good friends ever since. I was so honored she asked me to document the incredible journey of their first child. Everything motherhood is such an exciting time in a woman’s life. It also goes by really fast. To be able to document and preserve these memories is an incredible honor.” Greer, Photographer
