“My husband and I got married less than two years ago and were immediately open to having kids. I had always feared that I would have infertility issues since my mom did so we didn’t want to risk waiting too long. When we found out we were pregnant within weeks of getting married, we were thrilled! We knew it was such a blessing, truly a miracle, that we were able to get pregnant so easily and didn’t take it for granted for one second.
As much as I had wanted to become a mother, transitioning into motherhood was challenging for me. The complete sacrifice of my life for another person, especially a person who reciprocated nothing in return (at first), combined with the lack of sleep was hard and also very humbling. Reflecting on this past year, motherhood has taught me so much about life and has really provided me with a more personal meaning to the sacrifice that Jesus made for us. I don’t always pick up my ‘motherhood’ cross gracefully but I’ve realized what a blessing it is just to have the opportunity to be a mother. There’s nothing I wouldn’t give up to snuggle Andrew in the middle of the night, make him giggle uncontrollably, or clean up his messes for the thousandth time! It’s in these little moments that I’ve learned what’s most important as well as just how fleeting time is. Motherhood is the greatest sacrifice but also the most amazing gift. These pictures mean so much to me as they will always remind me of my first year in this challenging, yet beautiful journey of motherhood…”
“My son Andrew is now 13 months old and has changed so much over the past year. He was born 5 weeks early, completely healthy, but weighed only 5 lb 1 oz. It’s hard to even remember how small he was except by looking back at pictures. I’m glad we took so many pictures of Andrew, even if they were just on our iPhone, because he changed and grew so quickly. When my dad gifted us a family session with Shelby for Christmas, it was the best gift I could have received! I could not wait to have professional photos to document Andrew in his first year and also capture this moment in our little family’s life. Too often I’ve heard from mom’s that they wish they had more pictures with their babies and not just of their babies. I will always treasure these beautiful pictures that Shelby captured of my sweet boy and our little family in our first year together.” Lauren, Mother
“The past year has been a big one for the Mines Family, who welcomed their son last June, and this spring launched a new company. EternalIvory is a dress boutique for the bride-to-be. Lauren picked out her favorite, a white watercolor dress, for their family shoot and looked beautiful wearing her own brand. Not only was it a sweet photo session for this family, but it was also a great opportunity to showcase how great these dresses will look for engagement photos, rehearsal dinners, and showers.” Kristen, Photographer
