“This experience for me was all about capturing this sweet moment in time with my only daughter. My baby girl is turning two next month and each day her mind is growing more independent. During this session, my little girl was adamant about getting on the ground to run around while I did everything I could to keep her on my hip and her hat on her head for just a moment longer. Now as I reflect on this time that we had by the river that day, I think this is the very essence of motherhood. Trying to keep my little girl on my hip a little longer, not quite ready for her feet to hit the ground so she can take off running. Trying to keep her hat on her head, or her arms around my shoulders. Instilling all the love, guidance, discipline, confidence and faith that I can into her precious life so that when the day comes and she hits the ground running she will be equipped for whatever comes her way. Then having all the joy in the world, yet this hint of anxiousness because you want to pull this thing off… motherhood.” Kelly, Mother
“It’s so easy to get caught up in the everyday routine of going going and not taking the time to really enjoy the phase of life you are in as a mother. As a mom of 3 and with her daughter, the baby of the family, turning two it was important for Kelly to take some time to stop and capture these moments of just her and her only little girl. She realized that there was going to come a day and that day would be the last time she would pick up her little girl. She wanted to be able to remember how she sat on her hip, how she laughed when they play tag, and her curiosity of the world. It would one day serve as a reminder and take her back to a time when she could hold her just a little longer.
I loved working with Kelly. She just has a unique style and isn’t afraid of trying anything new or thinking outside the box. When she contacted me about this motherhood session, I was all in. I love how she forgets the camera is there and just enjoys the time with her little one. It makes my job easy because I’m no longer worried about posing them or giving them something to do, rather I get to capture the genuine love this mama has for her little girl.
Motherhood is something special. And while we all have hard days, really we should celebrate each day. Each mother is trying her hardest to be the very best mother she can. As a photographer, I want to capture the miracle and joy that comes with raising little humans. Whether that be in a field outside or within the very walls where everyday life happens, I want to capture it. Life goes way too fast to not cherish and celebrate as mothers every season that comes with raising baby humans.” Rhonna, Photographer
