“Before becoming pregnant and throughout my pregnancy, I wasn’t often sentimental about what motherhood would be like for me. I consider myself a pragmatic person, and spent my pregnancy reading all the books to make sure I knew the proper way my son should be eating, sleeping and behaving throughout his infancy. While the books were certainly useful and comforting to me as my husband and I waited for the arrival of our firstborn, I’ve learned so much more from my son in the first few weeks of his life than years of preparation could have taught me. Most importantly, Weston has shown me how limitless love is. He has taught me patience and selflessness, gratitude and confidence. He’s strengthened my relationship with God and my relationship with my husband. It’s amazing that the littlest person I know has had the largest impact on my life.
As a first time mother, I was frequently told that this time with my newborn would go by so quickly, and reminded to cherish every moment with my son. I truly didn’t understand just how quickly a day, week, or month could pass by, but I knew I wanted to capture moments from our first days as a family of three. Shooting the photographs with Marisa in our home will always be a precious memory and help us reflect on those first few days with our greatest treasure.” Mallory, Mother
“Mallory and I have known each other for 10 years now, and were sorority sisters in college. I’ve watched her grow throughout the years, but being asked to document her early days and journey into motherhood was such an honor. The love between Mallory and her husband, Derek, has always been evident, but the way they have grown into a family of three, and the tenderness in how Mallory mothers is truly organic. There is no love more pure than the love between a mother and her child, and that love radiates from Mallory to her sweet boy, Weston.
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, motherhood is my passion. I’ve always been extremely close with my own mom, but it wasn’t until my daughter was born I began to understand the unconditional love and sacrifice of motherhood. As a photographer I crave authentic connection filled with passion and simplistic beauty, and there is nothing more pure than the connection of family, specifically the connection between mother and baby. Those early days are a fog of newness, fatigue and an abundance of love, they are truly beautiful and deserve to be captured. I believe photographs are legacy pieces passed down from generation to generation, and providing this to mamas, is an invaluable gift they’ll cherish forever.” Marisa, Photographer
