“Every stage of a child’s life is so special and better than the last, but I am especially loving this time, right now, with our daughter. In the photos that Jared took, Clara was about to turn three and really starting to show her funny, imaginative, and adventurous self. Her birthday is in the fall, and it’s my favorite time of the year with the changing weather and the anticipation of Thanksgiving and the holiday season. When looking back at these images, I wanted to be right back in those special moments with her and my husband, gearing up for Autumn and enjoying the rare, cooler Texas days. I knew Jared would capture the essence and spirit of our little family with his gentle, artistic style, and we would treasure these captured moments for a life time.
There is nothing in this world like motherhood. The immense love and connection you feel for your child is something that is nearly impossible to put into words. As soon as I found out I was going to be a mother, my whole world changed from doing things for myself and my husband to doing everything in my power to keep my daughter safe and happy. One thing I did not anticipate about motherhood is the sheer exhaustion that sleepless nights cause. It would seem pretty obvious, but after days and weeks of little to no sleep, it can really hit you hard. BUT! During those moments in the middle of the night when my daughter would wake up for the third or fourth time, I would rock her, holding her close and would cherish the quiet time I got to spend with her, because I knew that those moments would pass faster than I could hold on to and she’d all of a sudden be too big to fit into my arms. Even though she’s three, there are times she still wakes up in the middle of the night and jumps into bed with us. During these moments I hold her close and my heart bursts with so much love for her and the special, silent moments we still get to have. I don’t know what the future will bring, but as a mother, I know that my heart will continue to grow and the capacity I have now for challenges and love will keep on multiplying for her, forever.” Kristina, Mother
“Kristina and Marcos were a dream to work with! I met them 7 years ago over lunch to discuss shooting their engagement session and destination wedding. Kristina and I bonded over the fact that we both of half Asian descent. Several months later they were married in Bermuda, and I jokingly and lovingly became known as “Cousin Jared”. Early last year I hung up my hat as a wedding photographer and began to focus primarily on families, and so when Kristina contacted me to photograph her family, I was ecstatic to work with them again! It is always so humbling to have return clients, and I was grateful to meet their “new human” (as they called her). Their daughter Clara was 3 at this point and showed incredible spunk and energy – not a single shy bone in her body! I learned that she is a huge fan of dinosaurs, and she wasn’t hesitant to give me some of her best dinosaur impressions. At the same time, she showed me some of her ballet moves – 4th position if I remember correctly. They even introduced me as “Cousin Jared”, which was extra special for me.
For me, there is something extra special about photographing a couple with their firstborn. I love capturing the beginnings of a family and seeing the couple fill the role of a parent for the first time. As such, it is really important for me to photograph the child with each parent, showcasing their unique relationship with both mom and dad.” Jared, Photographer
