“Pregnancy and motherhood are truly such a gift. I know that sounds cliche, but it really is true!! I consider myself a motivated, driven person – but nothing compares to the newfound purpose I’ve felt in this season of life. There were years of prayerfully waiting leading up to our child, which I know has really magnified our gratitude and appreciation. This season has taught me so much about the importance of gentleness and extending grace (to others of course, but also to myself!) There is so much outside pressure and expectations put on new moms, and even women who are just trying to become pregnant. For me, this extension of grace is a daily, continuing goal – to be gentle with myself in ordinary momentswhen things don’t go as planned.
I was blessed with a healthy pregnancy – and for the first time was able to experience the joy and beauty of this season of life. As a dear friend, I knew Ingrid would be able to capture this session in an authentic way.” Julie, Mother
“What was really special about this maternity session was the fact that I was pregnant during it, but just didn’t know it yet! Another reason it was a delight is because I went to college with both of them and knew them both separately. I was blessed to photograph their proposal, engagement and wedding! So, I have seen them through many life seasons! Drew is the cutest with Julie. He is still smitten by her. The fact that Julie was carrying his son took him even further into cloud nine. As far as Julie, I’ve said this before, but she was full of grace and poise before, but watching her carry her son made her even more lovely.
To be honest, I didn’t understand the value of family pictures until I had my first child. The fact that life seasons change so often and our children look so different month to month makes documenting motherhood (or family life) so important. A lot of us mothers, especially, don’t make the time to be in front of the camera because we take out our phones and take 1,500 pictures of our child. Professionally documenting motherhood captures the unscripted moments and feelings from the season and allows you to keep them forever. One day, our children will grow up and might have children of their own. My hope is that my photographs with their mother really reflect the feeling of motherhood, that they see the images one day and feel something familiar with their mothers. To think that these images will carry through generations is truly rewarding.” Ingrid, Photographer
