“The mama-to-be, Myriah, grew up in Santa Cruz, so she loved the idea of doing the shoot at a beach in her hometown. We were lucky to have the entire beach to ourselves that day besides a few surfers out catching waves. It was a perfectly serene and stunning spot to photograph this special stage in their lives without any distractions.

I photographed Myriah’s sister’s wedding many years ago, and then subsequently photographed her other sister’s maternity and newborn sessions, so I’ve come to know and adore this family over the years. It was amazing to get to know these two even more though this session and to witness their beautiful connection with each other and with this natural, oceanfront location too. These two were up for anything, and were so at ease and obviously in love, so it made my job extra easy that day, and it made me excited to know that this little girl growing inside was going to get to grow up with such amazing parents too!

As a mother of two myself, I know how significant and special this stage of a couple’s life is, so it truly feels like an honor to capture images that I know both the parents and the baby growing in that belly will cherish in the years to come.
