This session was my first one right after the lockdown due to the Covid-19. Emilie is a beautiful new mom who wanted a session because her new baby was growing so fast and she wanted photographs to preserve these early weeks as a family of three. Once I met Emilie, I knew that I would have a lot to document with this family. They were so welcoming and the love they had for each other and their new son was very apparent. Emilie shared with me what it was like to have a baby during the lockdown.  Although her husband, Phillipe, was allowed to be present for the delivery, he was not able to stay at the hospital. Emilie and baby Gabriel were in the hospital for longer than usual and Phillippe could not be there. It was very difficult for them to be separated during the first few days of Gabriel’s life. I knew I wanted these images to reflect the love they have for each other and the gratitude they had for finally being home together.

For me, motherhood is one of the most powerful loves that a human being can give to another one. As a photographer and being the witness who gets to document these milestone moments is a real honor. Once we become a mother, our whole world changes. The couple becomes a family. I love to document this moment that the mother is the family pillar.
