“Our evening with Michela was so sweet. Isaac is so curious, he loves to touch and stomp on anything new! It was so much fun watching him run around and let his curiosity run wild. I love to watch him play, and as a Mama, it meant so much to watch Michela enjoy his sweet wildness too. She really did love watching him have fun, you can see it in the images! I am smiling right now as I think back to those moments. As a parent, there is nothing like watching other people enjoy your children, Michela certainly did this! The day was filled with so much joy, that makes the photos even more precious.
We went to the Juno Beach Dunes – it has become a very important spot for my little family. Every time I pull into the nature preserve, I am flooded with memories. They say that scent is the strongest tie to memory, and the smell of the ocean mixed with the dry palm smells like home. It smells like the sunset motorcycle ride, moments before we got engaged, the barefoot walks while we were pregnant and the sweet newborn sounds when we brought our one week old to this spot to tell him our love story. Though the dunes are a just small stretch of land, they’re an integral part of our family history. I am so thankful that Michela was able to capture these sweet moments between me and Isaac in a place that is so precious to our family.
My story of motherhood is one of hope and thankfulness. We lost our first pregnancy in the early stages, so Isaac is our promised rainbow baby. As a mama, I know what it is to have that longing desire inside of you to hold your own little one. I remember the waiting, the praying, and the miracle and honor of becoming Isaac’s Mama. To the mamas that are already holding their little ones or praying for their own miracle in the midst of the waiting and to those who are being spiritual Mamas- I honor you and send encouraging thoughts and prayers your way.” Steph, Mother
“Steph and I have (or should I say had) one of those Instagram relationships. You know what I’m talking about—we followed each other years ago when both of our lives looked much different and we kept in touch from afar. We lived in the same city, had similar circles of friends, and yet never found our paths crossing in real life. When my husband and I decided to move back to my hometown in South Florida, I knew I wanted to reach out to Steph and create something intentional together. Photographing her family was something special. Her love for her husband sweet baby boy astounds me—she’s totally smitten by them. I like to think these images communicate that.
Photographing motherhood is so very fulfilling to me – it is difficult to think of what I don’t fulfilling about it. Since I was a little girl, I’ve always loved children. Their wonder, silly phrases, and whimsical miscommunications are so endearing. I was the oldest of four, so I guess you could say mothering came a tad natural to me. While my husband and I haven’t had kids of our own yet, the closer I get to that season of my life, the more I cherish photographing motherhood. To see the innate bond between a mother and a child creates an all-consuming feeling that I can’t even describe. To know that each mother’s journey to motherhood is so uniquely their own, so intimately woven within their soul, fuels me to provide women with a genuine, personal experience and heirloom imagery.” Michela, Photographer
