“Nicole had that magical soon to be Mama glow when I met her and Andrew for their maternity session on Clearwater Beach this fall.  They were enjoying the Florida sunshine on their Babymoon from DC. We got lucky with clear skies and warmer weather, which made for a perfect getaway before their little one arrives in the new year! This session was effortless as it was clear they were so excited about their firstborn and completely enjoying their babymoon in the warm Florida sun.

I loved both their outfit choices. Even though the white gown Nicole was wearing wasn’t a maternity gown, she wore the satin slip dress so well.  Their first look is elegant, so I paired it with the lush mangrove bushes and tall grasses so they would stand out against the white sand even more.  Her second look was a dress from Free People and I love how the seafoam green color matched the ocean water seamlessly. Sometimes couples will match the color of the outfit that they are wearing to be what they are expecting, like wearing pink for a girl. I think sticking to neutral tones or colors that compliment the scenery will remain timeless and can remain up on your walls no matter what season it is and what colors you have decorated your house with.

Photographing Motherhood from the beginning of the Mom’s journey while pregnant to welcoming her newborn, has become more meaningful to me after the birth of my niece.  My sister and I are very close, so documenting her journey gave me so much joy to be able to provide her these memories of such a fast pace time as my niece grows.  Not every moment of motherhood is full happiness and if I can find those moments that are true to that particular family – even if it’s a fraction of a second, that means the world to me.” Lauren, Photographer
