“Love has no boundaries and recognizes no barriers. It can happen despite being miles away from each other.
I adore the love story of Mr. and Mrs. Kai. Their relationship has spanned continents ~ one lived in Cape Town and the other in Melbourne. You would be amazed by how far love can travel and their long-distance relationship has given them the reason to love harder. After getting married and living in Cape Town for some time, they decided to move to Shanghai before relocating to Hong Kong, their current home, and where we have crossed paths.
How bold are these two? Moving to a completely new city when it was at the flashpoint of protests, and not to mention expecting a newborn baby in the midst of a pandemic! I feel much honored to witness and capture this important milestone for them. Their unique story has taught me that no distance is too far and love gives us the courage and strength to ride through life together.
The photoshoot took place at the Victoria Peak Garden, which was once the Mountain Lodge, a former summer residence for the Governor of Hong Kong. The lodge has since been demolished, but some classic Victorian features still remain. The location was favored by the couple not only because of its scenic environment, but the colonial essence also gave them a touch of familiarity and resonance of where they came from.
I believe in the power of photography and its ability to translate real-life moments into compelling memories through the lens. My goal as a fine art lifestyle photographer is to tell truly meaningful stories that are beyond simply being beautiful. It’s about turning those little (or even slightly ordinary) events into something so captivating that families can look back on in generations to come.” Iris, Photographer
