“Christina’s family moved into their new house outside of DC this past summer. Now more than ever, home is such a special place to be – it is our safe haven and the sanctuary where we raise our children. We decided to document this fleeting time in their new home, their haven.
This newborn session was so serene. I felt like a fly on the wall observing the beautiful connection between mother Christina and baby Max. I cannot imagine building and moving into a new home during a pandemic, but this family did it with such grace and poise. The session flowed organically like the love the family shared. Big brother Miles even stopped in to play and say hello to his new baby brother.
Photographing motherhood fulfills me because it reminds me of the raw emotion of the early days of parenthood. I am in love with nostalgia, and newborn sessions always bring me back to that place and time when I first became a mother. I greatly enjoy documenting not only the new baby, but the new mother, as well. We are reborn when we become mothers, and I think it is important to photograph this new dawn. We are never the same in the best of ways.” Marie, Photographer
