“Not only were these our first children, but they were born at the height of the COVID pandemic, and we were completely unsure of when their immediate family would be able to meet them. It was important for us to capture the early sweet moments to both remember and show the girls to our family from afar. They are now 7 months old and have since been able to meet their entire family!
As a working mom, currently finishing my second doctorate, having children was never my life’s goal. However, when we decided we would pursue it, it was not a straightforward process for us. I have been an athlete my entire life, unfortunately to the detriment of my fertility. Luckily, we were able to conceive naturally, but going through the initial stages of fertility treatment added a lens of perspective and gratitude for me. Had I not gone through that experience, my outlook on a twin pregnancy and delivery would have been drastically different. I am beyond grateful for God’s plan and timing because these girls are pure joy and the light of our lives.
Allie, our photographer, was amazing to work with. With the COVID pandemic and our girls being so young we were hesitant to bring anyone into our home. She was completely accommodating to all of our precautionary requests and made us feel “right at home” during the entire newborn session. We have since used her for other milestone sessions and cannot recommend her enough!” Kristina, New Mother
“The thing about new life in the midst of a pandemic is the absolute paradox it creates– light in darkness, the good in the middle of grief, and the certainty in center of confusion. It’s true—the timing of this beautiful capture couldn’t describe itself more perfectly, and my words will fully fall short of the story behind these images. 2020 was a journey for us all, but as this sweet mama would explain, 2020 was a “double edged sword”— after a fertility diagnosis, a year of not seeing family & friends, a twin pregnancy & the new reality that Covid brought, they were given Austen & Anderson—“the lights of their lives”. They didn’t know what this year would hold, and if you told them that it would consist of a global pandemic, full of masks and uncertainty, they likely would have been shocked, but the best shock of all was the miracles this year gave them. Andy and Kristina would be the first ones to shout from the rooftops that those girls, the light in a rather dark year, are worth every bit of sacrifice this year required; simply because they are holding them.” Allie, Photographer
