“Ohh friends…it is time for our favorite blog post! Every year we share a recap of the Fount Workshop- sharing images from not only our workshop teachers, but our attendees as well! This past fall we hosted our FIFTH Fount Workshop for motherhood photographers. This workshop started as a dream and it was so surreal to offer this workshop for the fifth year in a row!

When we held our first workshop, “Motherhood Photography” was not yet a well-recognized niche, and all of the luxurious and creative workshops that were offered for photographers at the time seemed to be mostly for weddings.  There were studio newborn photo workshops, and lifestyle family workshops- but they were nothing like what we share on Fount today.

I wish there were accurate ways to describe how truly special this workshop experience becomes every year. It’s something that I have found to be an experience that is only truly understood by those who were there in person. Our 2019 workshop was truly one of our favorite years. We had such an incredible group of attendees who flew in from all over the US to the exquisite Serenbe, just outside of Atlanta, Georgia. Many of our attendees are mothers themselves, and learning to navigate this whole “running a successful business while still feeling like an artist while still being the very best wife and mom possible“.  It was taught by myself, Fount founder, Tiffany Farley, Rylee of Rylee Hitchner Photography, and Alex of Daphne Mae Photography.

The Fount Workshop is not your typical workshop in that it is ALWAYS our number one goal that every attendee leaves feeling never more inspired to be themselves in their business. We want them to know that they have permission to let go of the “always climbing to the top yet never seeming to arrive” hustle and comparison that the photography industry can so easily offer, and to instead be given the time to remember why they wanted to photograph motherhood in the first place. Our message is that success isn’t about what brand of albums they sell, or what their studio wardrobe includes, or what their pricing and packages are, or if their pricing and packages measure up to others. We emphasize that it’s not about film or digital or this and that image editing preset.

We don’t invite attendees to be a part of The Fount Workshop and ask them or teach them to photograph just.like.us.

In fact, one of my personal favorite parts of this workshop experience (and I know it was Rylee’s and Alex’s as well) is that although we all  teach at this workshop, we all photograph very differently. It’s actually a big part of why we love sharing this workshop recap on the blog- because it’s amazing to me how each of us can stand in the same spot and photograph the same mother in front of us yet we all create something different and unique. We approach portrait sessions differently from start to finish. We offer unique client experiences from marketing to booking to image delivery. Our business structures and brands are all so different.

The confidence to run your business the way that works for you is one of the best gifts we strive to give our attendees! It IS ok to be your own self in business, to define your own success, and truly build a business and brand that fits YOU and your family. That has been so important to us as a creative team from the start. We wanted to create this opportunity where you could learn from us and how we each do something, but not feel like it’s the “only way” or the “right way”.

We wanted to create an experience where a part-time photographer can come and feel just as valued and just as professional as someone who is full-time. Our desire is that a Mom can come and not feel like she’s failing because she doesn’t have 50 hours a week to push her business- nor does she want to or that a woman who doesn’t have kids at all can come and feel recognized and relatable as a gifted motherhood photographer.

We wanted to create an experience that was restful, supportive, encouraging, challenging in a good way, and special- because we know that a lot of the photographers who come to the Fount Workshop (some year after year!) choose us as the only time that they get to escape and solely focus on their business and brand for a whole week as well as make new friends who “get” their business world.

So many of you have asked for details about our nextFount Workshop ~ be sure to stay tuned! We will have information for you so soon. Be sure to subscribe to our email list so you can be the very first to hear when registration has opened. This workshop has limited openings so we can keep the intimate feel that we really value, and we sell out every single year. Be sure to subscribe so you get the email and have a chance to snag one of the highly coveted seats!

The images in this post were taken by our Fount Workshop teachers AND attendees. I love how they all have a unique style, and it always such an honor to share just a few of them here! At this workshop, we had three different portfolio building shoots- both indoor and outdoor. We worked with real-life weather challenges, younger siblings, older siblings, etc. We wanted our attendees to have the opportunity to walk away with beautiful new images for their social media and website, but also have learning opportunities for less than ideal scenarios.

A HUGE thank you to our incredible models (especially our rockstar mama of FOUR who was also expecting TWINS!) and our entire creative team (beyond our teachers, Monica and Anne who are the glue that hold all the details together and help everything to run smoothly!)” Tiffany, Fount Founder

“It truly changed the way I think about my business. I have already implemented some changes that have helped me get back my time and focus more on what I truly love shooting. Even though I am not a mother, I felt like I fit in with the community of photographers because you all made the content so relatable to any type of photographer. One big takeaway for me was realizing the most important thing to do for my business is to just be me — I have honestly felt like my bookings have become more genuine in the past few months as I have produced content that is true to me. Thank you for everything! Truly the best workshop I have ever attended.” – Lindsay, Fount Workshop 2019 Attendee

“Out of the dozens of conferences and workshops I’ve been to this was by far the best. I left feeling refreshed and encouraged body, mind, and soul. My creativity has flourished and for the first time since starting my business 2 years ago I have clarity and peace about my purpose as a photographer.” – Grace, Fount Workshop 2019 Attendee
