“When I was pregnany I honestly couldn’t picture what Sloane would look like. When she was born it wasn’t any clearer – it was like meeting a very cool stanger that I desperately wanted to be friends with. She is a very independent person – no cuddles (she managed breast feeding with hardly any contact), always moving, always busy. Motherhood is strange and nothing prepared me for it, most days I feel like I’m just there to help her open the fridge so she can grab a cucumber or a random handful of spinach, but I also have this calm sense that she’s got things figured out and that I don’t need ot worry about her. The days where she wants to take my hand and lead me to something she’s discovered are magical. On the days that she’s too busy for me, I try not to take it personally.
When I found Sarah I knew instantly that she would be able to give us the gift of freezing a little bit of time with our very busy baby. Right before Sloane’s first birthday we met Sarah for our session at the park where my husband and I built years of memories together as a couple. It is also where we would lay in the grass as an exhausted new family of three or have a picnic at the farmer’s market. We moved away not long after our session with Sarah. Every time I get homesick for Atlanta (which is often) or I am grieving that Sloane is no longer a “small baby” (also a frequent occurrence), I go back to these photographs and feel transported to our beauitful first year as a family of three. I will cherish these images forever.” Natalie, Mother
“Natalie & Mark not only wanted to document their new family as a party of 3, they also wanted keep a piece of Atlanta as they prepare for a move to Ohio thanks to Marks new job. In their early marriage they came to love strolls and farmers market dates at Piedmont Park, in the heart of the city and walkable from their home. Naturally it was the perfect place to capture this new phase of life they are now entering, walking the park early in the morning with baby Sloane along for the adventure.” Sarah, Photographer
