“It’s no secret that motherhood changes you. For me, motherhood saved me. My children gave me a purpose and opened my eyes to the meaning of life. Motherhood made me strong in ways I never knew I could be. At the end of the day you are their entire world and you have to show up for them. I am taught daily how to be more patient, kind and understanding. It’s truly humbling and strips you to your core, only to be reborn again. You see the world in an entirely different way, through their magical little eyes. There has been a huge shift in my perspective and I can only hope to be the very best version of myself and carry that on through them, maybe leaving the world just a little brighter.
Childhood is so fleeting so it is very important to me to capture our family as we are in this moment. The pictures tell a story of us as a family. They freeze us in time and help me cherish those memories forever. From their tiny toes to the way they smile, it’s all little details that I never want to forget. These sessions are a key part of that for me.” Madison, Mother
“The session was photographed at Island Lake State Park near Ann Arbor, Michigan. While the specific location where we photographed was a bit of a hike it was well worth it to capture this family in nature where we were able to incorporate both the water and the greenery as this family absolutely loves spending time outdoors.
This was my third session with this family over the past 18 months and it has been amazing to capture their growth through pregnancy, life with a newborn, and now as a growing family of four! I have become good friends with Madison and am so inspired by her easygoing nature. She makes the most mundane activities an event and is a joy to be around, especially when witnessing her connection with her boys which has been such a special opportunity for me since I have gotten to know her.
As a mother myself I have experienced both the highs and lows of motherhood. Searching out the beauty in the hills and valleys has helped me appreciate this journey all the more. I love the opportunity to work with mothers and show them the inherent beauty in motherhood that exists in all seasons, even when it feels like they are fighting an uphill battle. They are not alone, and in fact they are so inspiring to those around them that they deserve a mirror reflecting the worthiness that exudes. Being the one to hold that mirror is my honor.” Laurel, Photographer
