“Our journey to motherhood was not easy, but not as difficult as others who have struggled with infertility. After a year and a half of trying naturally with no success, we finally reached out to a fertility specialist. My husband and I felt the stigma from others who questioned why we chose to have science help us become parents but that did not deter us. Hundreds of hormone shots, countless of pills, dozens of blood test and thousands of tears, we got pregnant on our first round of IVF. The next nine months felt like an eternity, but she was definitely worth the struggle and wait.
It’s normal to hear that people do things for others because they expect a favor in return. Having our daughter changed that mindset. We both understood how it feels to love unconditionally even though our daughter can’t express the same affection. That love is what motherhood means to me. It’s the love that has you doing anything to make that little person feel happy and safe like losing hours of sleep for midnight feedings, making funny animal noises for giggles, or rocking them till your arms are tired. It is hard to think about the days before our daughter, but it’s true that they say the days really go by quickly.
My husband deserves a shoutout because I cannot thank him enough for equally sharing the responsibility of parenthood. Motherhood shouldn’t be a singular journey. Fathers are just as important as mothers and very capable of helping. He has been a wonderful and attentive father. It’s so sweet to see the love that he has for our daughter. Just as important as communication, it is important for mothers to remember to reserve some time for themselves. Those are moments for self love. It’s cliche but loving yourself allows you to love others.
Being an introvert and a new mom, I was feeling nervous and self-conscious about the photos. It’s somewhat comical and embarrassing to say this, but after Ginnifer commented on how pretty I looked that I was able to change my attitude. Having these photos taken are important to me because I want to be able have these snapshots in time and compare my daughter’s changes. Kids really do grow right before your eyes. I’m glad to have Ginnifer capture these moments and be able to display her work all over my house.” The mother in the images
“This family is a joy to photograph! I met them just a few months ago for their daughter’s newborn session. I instantly connected with them. They are so kind, beautiful and easy-going. The love they have for their daughter just radiates! As a mother of 3, I truly enjoy photographing motherhood. It brings me so much joy to help create memories of these fleeting days that will forever be cherished. I feel such a connection to my clients, and I want them know that what we create together comes from my heart.” Ginnifer, Photographer
