“Today I’m sharing the Stoffel family, who recently welcomed their 4th child. The dynamic of this family completely blew me away. Some of the most kind, loving and genuine children I’ve ever worked with… they absolutely swooned over their little brother during our time together. I’d set my camera down to load another roll of film, and big sisters would check in with their siblings and parents… make sure everyone was OK, pull in for just a slightly tighter hug or kiss. It was such unencumbered love. Mom and Dad also worked so effortlessly together, completing each others’ sentences using body language alone. It was simply beautiful.
Photographing motherhood is the kind of honor that gives me goosebumps. Motherhood (no matter the stage) is raw, imperfect, tangled, difficult, warm, overflowing, dynamic. When I’m photographing a family, I’m creating art through the eyes of that Mother. What does she long to see, what will make her heart flutter, what might love look like to her? And what’s amazing is, as a Mother, love shows up in many ways… there’s not one definition or right way to love or express love. But gosh, it sure is expressed in so many forms. A gaze, a touch, with words… I love trying to find these bits of goodness as I work with families.” Paige, Photographer
