“There are so many reason this shoot holds a special place in my heart. This pregnancy has been a testament to the Lord’s faithfulness and redemption in our lives. Every step of the way, I have been reminded of that, beginning with when I found out we were pregnant. We were overjoyed when we found out it was a boy, and feel so humbled that we’ve been entrusted with a little boy to raise. My girls, ages 3 and 5, are at an age where they really understand that they are about to have a brother and it has been so special for me and my husband to experience this with them!
If I’m being honest, my motherhood journey has come with some of the highest highs and lowest lows. I walked through an incredibly difficult journey of PPA/D after my second was born. I never thought it would happen to me, but looking back I see the Lord’s kindness and goodness written all over our story and can actually say I’m thankful for that season. Sometimes we only see a one-sided view of motherhood when in fact, it is multi-faceted, complicated, and beautiful all at the same time. With each new season of raising children comes new difficulties and unexpected challenges. My girls (3 and 5) are my mini best friends and bring my husband and me so much joy, laughter, and purpose every day. Motherhood is so much more wonderful, crazy, chaotic, and beautiful than I could have ever imagined!” Rachel, Expectant Mother
“Rachel’s maternity session was a full-circle moment for me as a photographer. In 2020, she photographed my own family, and it was my first time seeing a photographer using film. I was hooked the moment I saw our images, and Rachel helped me as I began my journey of learning how to shoot film. She photographed my family again in 2021 as I got ready to welcome our third baby boy, and those images are some I will cherish forever and ever. So when I had the opportunity to capture her family as she prepared to add a third child, her first baby boy, I was elated. We planned her session to take place at Weathington Park, which has a beautiful overlook of the Tennesee River. I knew it would be stunning, but what I didn’t expect were the strong winds we experienced that day. We all decided to embrace it and accept the added movement and whimsy that it would bring to the images. The sweet girls were cold, but that only allowed for authentic snuggles as the family kept each other warm. Rachel’s compassionate embrace of her little girls was beautiful to watch. I love how their windblown hair and dresses created organic moments of joy and closeness that I hope they will look back on fondly. It was an honor to capture this family on film as they begin a new chapter. Interacting with them, it’s easy to imagine how easily that baby boy will find his place in his family and how much he will be loved.” Mallory, Photographer
