“This session was photographed inside the client’s home. I always photograph inside my client’s homes as I personally feel that it’s the most intimate place for photographs. It’s the place that you bring your baby home to. It’s the nursery where you rock your baby to sleep through so many sleepless nights. It’s the place where nearly all of their “firsts” happen. Home is the place where your family is grown and so many memorable moments unfold. And so, I find it incredibly important to have beautiful and authentic documentation of your life in this very place that means so much to you now, but that will also mean even more to you as these years pass by.

This family was a dream to work with. Their home provided beautiful natural light and the mostly neutral color palette of their home decor provided the perfect backdrop for photos. Carter, Clark’s mother, works in textiles and has an obvious eye for design that came through in everything from the family’s wardrobe choices to the nursery decor. On the day of their session, everyone was relaxed and happy to partake in documenting this fleeting season of life.

As a mom to four young boys, I pour my heart and soul into photographing motherhood. I’m right there in the trenches with my clients. I’m going through what they’re going through in many ways, and therefore I feel it all so deeply when I photograph their lives. As moms, our lives often feel filled to the brim. It can feel chaotic and overwhelming some days. But there are also these sweet moments of connection that are born out of that sea of chaos. There are those moments that remind you of what makes motherhood the joy that it is. Photographing motherhood gives me the opportunity to capture those tender, delicate moments. Not only that, though, it gives me the opportunity to show moms how they are seen by their children – full of love, adoration and joy – because it’s something that is sometimes hard to see when you’re in the midst of the daily grind every day.” Morgan, Photographer
