“I was so excited and yet truthfully a bit nervous about doing a maternity photoshoot! I knew I wanted to document such a special chapter in our lives, but I wouldn’t say late pregnancy is when I felt my most confident! I was so grateful that our photographer made my husband and I both feel so comfortable and confident during the session. She provided us with the best guidance on poses and helped us feel natural in front of the camera and enjoy the moment. I think it really shows through the photos!

Motherhood has been such an emotional and rewarding journey for me. The first few months were like climbing a mountain for the first time on unsteady and weak (at times) legs. But mile after mile, and month after month, my strength and confidence grew, and I started feeling so proud of myself and the journey my baby girl and I were on together. Now at 10 months postpartum, I can honestly say I have more love and purpose in my life than I ever did before. “This maternity session celebrated Lauren’s first pregnancy. Lauren and Ben joined me at a local garden, which was just on the brink of spring blooms. Winter is not often a popular choice for photo sessions, but this session proves it is a truly beautiful season – especially when awaiting a baby’s arrival. It was a true joy for me to document their growing family under a warm, glowy, February sun.

I simply adored photographing these expectant parents. Lauren and Ben loved on each other with the most gentle adoration. Their excitement about meeting their daughter was palpable, and they were a true joy to photograph. I love that we found a few very early spring blossoms just beginning to show. In many ways, it felt like a beautiful metaphor for spring and blossoming into a new mama.

These moments in pregnancy, so fleeting upon reflection, are such a beautiful time to photograph. Each pregnancy seems infinite at the moment, yet we find ourselves yearning to remember these moments as our children grow. The time truly goes so quickly.

As a mother myself, my approach to photographing expectant mamas is grounded in my own yearning to remember these moments with my son. I try to find ways to depict the growing connection between mama and baby, showcase her strength, and the beauty in the transformation of becoming a mother. I love to think that their daughter, as she grows, can view these images and feel how loved she was in these moments before they truly knew her.
